Quick answer: A Houston kitchen remodel with us usually costs $30,000–$90,000 and takes about 6–10 weeks of construction after the permit is approved. The biggest cost drivers are layout changes, cabinet construction and countertop material. We handle design, City of Houston permits, licensed trades and inspections.

- Permit drawings and submittal to Houston or your own city

- Cabinets, countertops, backsplash, lighting, flooring and paint
- Final inspection, punch list and written warranty
Kitchen remodeling projects we build
Cabinets
Plywood boxes resist the swelling that humidity causes in particleboard, especially at the sink base. We help you spend on boxes and hardware first; door styles are easy to change later.
Countertops
Quartz needs no sealing and stays consistent in color. Granite and quartzite handle heat well but need periodic sealing. Choose natural stone slabs in person; every one is different.
Kitchen islands
An island needs about 42 inches of clearance on working sides. Adding a sink or cooktop to it means new plumbing or venting through the slab, which we price before you commit.
Open-concept wall removal
Many 1960s and 1970s Houston ranch homes have closed kitchens. We confirm whether the wall carries load and what runs inside it, then engineer a beam and permit it when needed.
Countertop materials for a Houston kitchen
| Material | Upkeep | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Quartz | No sealing | Most forgiving day to day; avoid hot pans directly on it |
| Granite | Seal every 1–2 years | Handles heat well; pick your slab in person |
| Quartzite | Seal every 1–2 years | Marble look with far more durability than marble |
| Solid surface | Buff out scratches | Seamless and repairable; less heat resistant |
What changes the price most
- Moving the sink, range or walls (plumbing, venting and structural work)
- Cabinet construction: plywood vs. particleboard, custom vs. semi-custom
- Countertop material and the number of seams and cutouts
- Appliance package and any gas line or electrical upgrades

Kitchen projects that move plumbing, add circuits or remove walls also need trade permits and inspections. Bellaire, West University Place and the Memorial Villages issue their own permits.
Questions about kitchen remodeling
Do I need a permit to remodel my kitchen in Houston?
Usually yes. The City of Houston requires a building permit for most remodeling inside city limits; only cosmetic work like painting and wallpaper is exempt. Moving plumbing, adding circuits or removing walls adds trade permits and inspections. We pull the permits and schedule inspections for you.
How long does a kitchen remodel take?
A refresh can take a few weeks; a new layout with wall removal takes longer, plus permit review. You get a written schedule with your estimate, with permit time shown separately.
Can you remove a wall to open my kitchen?
Often. We check whether the wall is load-bearing and what plumbing, wiring or ductwork runs through it. Load-bearing walls need an engineered beam and a permit, and we handle both.
Which countertop is best for a Houston kitchen?
Quartz is the easiest to live with because it never needs sealing. Granite and quartzite handle heat better but need sealing every year or two. We bring samples so you can compare in your own light.
Can I use my kitchen during the remodel?
Not the work zone, but we can set up a temporary kitchen with a sink or prep area, seal off dust and keep the rest of the house livable.
