Short answer: We remodel homes in Clear Lake. Clear Lake City was planned by Friendswood Development Company in the early 1960s after NASA chose the area for the Johnson Space Center, and Houston annexed it in 1977, so City of Houston permits apply. The TDI windstorm area doesn’t cover most of Clear Lake, but it does include nearby Seabrook and La Porte east of Highway 146.
Homes from the space-race boom
Thousands of NASA employees drove Clear Lake’s growth, and the Clear Lake City Community Association was formed in 1963. Many homes date from the 1960s through the 1980s, with original kitchens, baths, windows and roofs approaching the end of their life.
